A large number of amphorae and other ceramics can be seen, but have not yet been salvaged. The 23-metre vessel is believed to have lain undisturbed off the Bulgarian coast, at the bottom of the Black Sea, for some 2,400 years. Lying more than 2,000 metres below the surface, its mast, rudders and rowing benches are still complete due to the anoxic (free of oxygen) waters of the Black Sea at that depth. It is believed to be an ancient Greek ship, and closely resembles ships that decorated ancient Greek wine vases two millennia ago such as that depicted on the famous Siren Vase.
