It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of a long-term member and supporter of SEACS – Freddie Oh Keng Chin, who passed away on 21 May 2026. Freddie was a member of Singapore’s Foreign Service, serving in overseas posts for many years (including a stint with Tommy Koh at the UN in New York City), which gave him the opportunity to build a variety of collections, but one of his favorites was his ceramics–especially those he had collected while serving in arious Southeast Asia posts. He was generous with both his time and knowledge, and a genuinely warm, friendly and supportive member who was always ready to lend a hand and join a field trip, share his knowledge, contribute to a members’ sale, help host a members’ event, or welcome a new member to the Society. He served on the SEACS Council from 2005-2006, and is pictured here at SEACS’ 50th Anniversary Reception, held in Singapore’s National Library. He leaves behind his wife Lily and a daughter (Jeanne) and son (Tim).
