About Prof Wang Gungwu
Professor Wang is one of the most eminent scholars and historians in Asia today and is renowned for his scholarship on the history of the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia, as well as the history and civilisation of China and Southeast Asia. He has authored several dozen books and hundreds of articles on the subject. Professor Wang’s academic career has spanned over half a century in Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
He is currently Chairman of the Managing Board of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Chairman of the East Asian Institute, and Chairman of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.
Professor Wang and his wife, a past president of SEACS, are Life Members of our society.
