The ceramic centre of Yixing, famous for centuries for its highly-admired teapots, has opened a new ceramics museum on a former state-owned factory site. Designed by the Japanese firm of Kengo Kuma and Associates, the new museum has been built in the form of a scaled, sleeping dragon. The new museum is UCCA’s ( the contemporary art institution’s) fourth facility to be opened in China and, we are informed, its first dedicated to a single medium–in this instance, ceramic works. SEACS is discussing a visit to this new site in 2025 for its interested members. For more information, click here.
