We have lost another great maritime archaeologist: Sheldon Clyde Jago-on, who passed away 9 March 2021. Clyde was the Curator of the Archaeology Division and a former Officer in Charge of the Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage division of the National Museum of the Philippines. He co-founded the guild of archaeologists in the Philippines in 1999 with the aim of professionalizing the field and served as its president from 2021-2015. His work and research greatly aided our understanding of the region’s history. One of his most referred to works, at least by this SEACS member, is his published Archaeological Researches on the Manila Galleon Wrecks in the Philippines, written together with Bobby Orillaneda.
