An introduction by Curator Emerita Louise Allison Cort to the Freer|Sackler collection of Southeast Asian ceramics serves as an excellent introduction to the very topic of the region's ceramics as it covers categories, methodologies and other basics to facilitate and appreciate the region's rich and vast ceramics heritage.
The Tang Dynasty-era shipwreck continues to be the centre of attention. In this talk, author Dr. Natali Pearson will focus on the new knowledge it has bought to the surface about the maritime silk road as well as the controversies that have accompanied the ship and its cargo's discovery and display. She will be followed by a presentation by Tim Winter and a discussion moderated by the Society's president, Kwa Chong Guan.
The 2010 annual William Willetts Lecture was given by Rose Kerr. Her topic was Chinese export ceramics for the Southeast Asian markets.
