The Mystery and Beauty of Overglaze Ceramics

Members discovered the mystery and beauty of Asian overglaze ceramics in this pot clinic, one of SEACS’ most popular events, organised for the society by member Pauline Ong.

The evening began with SEACS experts giving an overview of overglaze techniques and their finer points. There followed a handling session where members’ exquisite overglazed pieces of early Qing to the Republic Period, Bencharong wares of the Chakri Dynasty of Thailand, as well as Peranakan heritage pieces, were passed around to be examined. Finally, our in-house experts offered their insight into the wares on display.
