The Council
At the 36th Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 1 April 2005 at the Asian Civilisations Museum, Armenian Street, the following were elected to the Council of the Society: Mrs. Marjorie Chu (President), Mr. Alvin Chia (Vice President), Mr. James Ng (Vice President), Mrs. Sue Sismondo (Honorary Treasurer), Ms. Tan Teng Teng (Honorary Secretary), Mr. Lim Yah Chiew (Councillor), Mr. Donald-Eric Lim (Councillor), Mr. Freddie Oh (Councillor), Ms. Yvonne Tan (Councillor).

Mrs. Margaret Wang and Mr. Lam Pin Foo were appointed Honorary Auditors.

Ms. Cheryl van Steenwyk and Ms. Chen Jiazi were later co-opted as Councillors.

Membership
I regret to announce the passing of Earl Lu on 2 September 2005, just 15 days short of his 80th birthday. Earl was a founder life member and past president of the society.

Membership of the Society as of 31 December 2005 was as follows:
Life Members 26
Overseas Members 5
Ordinary Members 116
TOTAL = 147

There are some members who have not paid their subscriptions. I appeal to them to send in their subscriptions as we would like them to continue with our Society.

Website
We have our very own website www.seaceramic.org.sg

Please bookmark it so that you can refer to it at all times for the society’s latest news and events.

We would like to thank Michelle Chin for her efforts in designing, co-ordinating and launching the Website.

Please feel free to introduce this website to your friends both at home and abroad.

Activities
Once again, the Society had a busy year. We thank Cheryl van Steenwyk for organising the year’s programme. A summary of the 2005 activities can be found on the Society website: www.seaceramic.org.sg

Apart from Ms Rose Kerr who spoke to us in January 2005, all other speakers for the 2005 programme were members of our own society and we thank them for their efforts in research and delivering the talks.

We would like to thank Helina Chan for being ever-willing to lend us her projector.

The Society and its future
Through our website we hope to reach our Society members and members of other like-minded societies here and abroad.

This is an opportunity for others to learn about our activities and we hope that they will join and share our interests.

We need you to give us some feed-back, to connect our Society with your friends here and overseas and to help us attract younger members so that our Society will grow and remain relevant.

Special thanks
I wish to thank the councillors, who have supported me and the Society so wholeheartedly throughout the first year of my presidency.

Marjorie Chu
President
